Peter Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling will be the third title fight scheduled for UFC 259 on March 6.
The upcoming UFC 259, which is scheduled to take place on March 6, 2021, has been slightly enhanced with the addition of a bantamweight title fight between division champion Peter Yan and Aljamain Sterling. This is according to a report from MMA Junkie, which says that although the promotion has not yet made the fight official, this is exactly what they are leaning towards.

If this happens, it will be the third title fight scheduled for this event, as it will include a light heavyweight title fight between division champion Jan Blachowicz defending his belt against middleweight champion Yisrael Adesanyi. In addition, Amanda Nunes will defend her featherweight belt against Megan Anderson.

UFC 257: Dustin Poirier Wants a Lightweight Title Shot, Not Money
Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier understands that if he goes to the main event of UFC 257 PPV on January 23 in Abu Dhabi and defeats Conor McGregor, the promotion will have no choice but to give him the next title chance at 155 pounds.

That's why Dustin is focused on winning, not getting revenge.

"This is not about payback," Poirier said last weekend. “This is not a rematch. Of course, these are very important to me. I go out there and beat him, it's all part of this game, things I'll think about and be happy about, but that's not my motivation every day. My main goal is to become a world champion, to be the best.”

The future of the current champion Khabib Nurmagomedov may depend on this.

McGregor stopped Poirier in their first meeting at UFC 178 back in 2014, when both fighters were promising, but a lot has changed since then. And Dustin needs to do something to get Conor out of the title race.

Especially after a resounding defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Dana White: UFC targets Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou heavyweight title fight in April
The first three UFC events already have their own headliners, as Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier will headline UFC 257, on January 23. Additionally, UFC 258 will headline Kamaru Usman defending his welterweight title against Gilbert Burns on February 13, and UFC 259 will host a light heavyweight title fight between Jan Blachowicz and Yisrael Adesanya on March 6.

Now UFC 260, which is expected to take place sometime in April, could be the headliner. According to recent comments from UFC president Dana White during Q & A, the promotion is considering booking a heavyweight rematch between king of the division Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou a month later than originally expected.

Miocic originally defended his belt against Ngannou at UFC 220 in 2018. Since then, Stipe has gone on to lose, then win, and then defend his title against Daniel Cormier in a trilogy of title fights.

As for Ngannou, since his defeat to Miocic, he has scored an impressive 4-1 mark, including winning his last four matches by knockout in the first round. In fact, these wins took less than three minutes combined and that's why he was very vocal about the time it takes to move up in the rankings to face Miocic again. If the fight goes ahead, it will be 11 months since Ngannu last fought.

Of course, the winner of this title fight is expected to defend the 265-pound title against former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

UFC 257: Dan Hooker Promises to Break Michael Chandler's New UFC Toy in Five Minutes
Dan Hooker will face former Bellator MMA lightweight champion Michael Chandler in the octagon Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), they will meet in the co-main event of UFC 257, on January 23, 2021 at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.

Hooker should not miss the chance to land a man who is probably already in contention for the title, as it would allow him to slip back into the championship race unnoticed.

And he is certainly happy to break the "new toy" of the UFC, while he has the opportunity.

"The danger is to get into the top five. If you put him up against anyone else in the UFC, like the top 50, then the top 30, then the top 20, then the top 15, then his chances of losing soar exponentially. So the faster they can get a title for him, the faster they can sell it, " Hooker said during a recent MMA Fighting interview.

Jon Jones ' move to Heavyweight
Jon Jones ' move to heavyweight is one of the biggest events of 2021. "Bones" has been a 205-pound champion for the better part of a decade. Now he'll dive right into the big guys competition, as Jones will likely be fighting the winner of Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou in his heavyweight debut. For the calculating Jones, this seems a risky move.

Jones is chasing rivals and titles that can really enhance his already incredible resume, but it definitely entails additional risk. We'll have to wait and see if Jones ' gamble with a second title pays off.
